Parnai dam

Parnai Hydroelectric Project is a run of the river project consisting of a concrete gravity dam. The project envisages diversion of designed discharge of water of Suran River downstream of the confluence of Parnai and Chang nallah (water stream), at Bafliaz through a tunnel across Jaranwali ridge for generating 37.5 MW of hydropower near Bata Durian village and dropping tail waters into Mendhar nallah (water stream). Parnai and Mendhar nallah are both tributaries of Suran / Poonch river, which, in itself, is a tributary of river Jhelum. The installed capacity of the proposed project activity is 37.5 MW comprising 3 generating units of 12.5 MW each.

Encardio-rite was awarded the sub-contract for supply as well as installation of safety monitoring instrumentation for the project. The instrumentation included joint meters, concrete pressure cells, and bireflex targets with break-off points and convergence bolts.
